Computer Programmer

Required Education and Experience

Job Duties:

  • Develop systems that act as the computer's brain and entails creating, adapting, modifying, troubleshooting and maintaining programs.

Research Assistant

Job Duties:

  • Collect , Conduct literature reviews analyze data, As appropriate to the specified position, code and verify data in accordance with specified research protocol and coding procedures and enter data into a computer database and/or spreadsheet application for subsequent analysis
  • Prepare materials for submission to granting agencies, foundation and interview questions and summarize interviews
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary
  • Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor, prepare, maintain and update website materials
  • Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project
  • Supervise undergraduate students working on the research project (maintaining records on assignment completion, acting as liaison/mediator between the undergraduate students and the faculty researcher)
  • Attend project meetings, area seminars and other meetings as necessary
  • Prepare and Compile data for progress reports and Summarize project results and other articles, reports and presentations
  • Monitor the project budget

Job Duties:

  • Perform clerical activities such as filing, typing, word processing, photocopying and mailing out material, mail sorting and compilation of records.
  • Issue and receive library materials such as pictures, cards, slides and microfilm.
  • Register patrons to permit them to borrow books, periodicals, and other library materials
  • Lend and collect books, periodicals, videotapes, and other materials at circulation desks.

  • Send out notices and accept fine payments for lost or overdue books

Research Director

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in library science, business, journalism, liberal arts or related field
  • Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in area of specialization is an advantage

  • Five years’ experience in non-profit advancement/fundraising preferably in prospect research including one year in a supervisory role.
  • Administrative experience in project management, implementation, and evaluation, and in-depth understanding of organizational processes and systems is also a requirement.
  • Should be comfortable working independently and have experience designing effective work-flow management policies. 
  • Should develop staff and delegate responsibilities. Prior experience providing prospect research during a campaign is helpful as of the experience of implementing best practices in a research environment.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain an overall knowledge of the University’s top prospects to assist fundraisers in developing appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies; reference and represent that information at meetings and in discussions, as needed.
  • Supervise the research staff.  Set departmental and individual employee goals and provide routine evaluations of progress toward these goals.  Identify and promote professional growth opportunities for staff. Ensure adherence to professional standards and ethics of prospect research.
  • Develop and oversee budgets and policies and procedures for the Research Department.
  • Evaluate research tools and emerging technology and coordinate vendor relations.
  • Maintain an awareness of the goals and accomplishments of the University and of issues within the development profession.
  • Provide direct prospect research services to a small portfolio of senior fundraisers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Regularly brief University executives and the Foundation leadership on donor opportunities.
  • Particular challenges will include maintaining the research focus on principal and major gift opportunities, prioritizing efforts of the staff so they are of the greatest assistance to fundraisers and researching and analyzing a large alumni and parent prospect pool in the most effective manner possible. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must possess advanced skills in prospect research including an understanding of major gifts and moves management fundraising concepts, gift and planned gift vehicles (wills, trusts) and business, government and legal documents.
  • Proficiency in conceptualizing and developing proactive prospecting methodologies using such tools as constituent list segmentation, data mining and electronic and peer screenings.
  • Understanding of wealth indicators and ability to translate such information into prospect ratings and gift estimates.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic and printed reference materials.
  • Strong analytical skills, including expertise in the modeling and analysis of data.
  • Ability to appropriately communicate sensitive information and to judge how and with whom this information should be shared.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
