and effective ways in teaching and to maximize the growth of learning

profession through the discovery of better ways of producing the best
teaching-learning outputs.

A performance and
competency-based teacher-education through research and evaluation towards the
development of a system of academic standard.

multifaceted problems confronting teacher education and likewise discover
various strategies that will solve the problems.

pupils/students in the four levels of education at The

OBJECTIVES
The NTC-Research
and Evaluation Center aims to:
1.Promote, develop and nurture a research culture in the College
Build up research capabilities and encourage research productivity of the
members of the NTC community.
2.Give direction to researches in the College through coordinating and
monitoring all the research activities in and out of the campus.
3.Conduct research colloquia to referee research outputs.
4.Improve the quality of research output so that this could be used to improve
the quality of instruction and serve as basis for policy formulation and
institutional planning and development.
5.Widen access to research opportunities, resources and outputs for maximum
utilization and implementation.
Functions of the NTC-REC
1. Conduct of institutional
researches for policy formulation and institutional planning and development.
2. Maintenance and updating Data
Bank for information related to research activities.
3. Extending research
consultancies and assistance to the following:
3.1. students
3.2. faculty
3.3. departments/or offices
4. Offering programs for/or
monitoring research activities of the following:
4.1. students
4.2. faculty
4.3. departments/or
offices
5. Sponsoring/conducting
seminars, lecture fora, trainings, and the like, for research skill development.
6. Serving as a clearinghouse of
research-related information and disseminating salient findings of completed
researches on research colloquia.
7. Documenting researches
undertaken in the College in journal forms.
8. Ensuring the implementation of
approved recommendations of the researches made.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Head
-
Submit short and long-term research plans to the
Dean of the Graduate Division;
-
Conduct institutional researches at least once a
year;
-
Maintain and up-date a Data Bank pertaining to
the school;
-
Coordinate with the departments/units of the
school for institutional researches;
-
Keep and file all researches conducted by the
different departments/ units of the school;
-
Have an exchange program of research journals
with other institutions;
-
Secure copies of studies undertaken by the
government related to educational issues;
-
Prepare and submit reports to the NTC President;
-
Entertain visitors;
-
Perform, other related duties.
Duties
and Responsibilities of the NTC-REC Research Committee
- Conduct
an institutional research at least once a year;
- Help in
maintaining and updating a Data Bank pertaining to the school;
- Lend a
hand in coordinating with the departments/units of the school for
institutional researches;
- Assist in
securing copies of studies undertaken by the government related to educational
issues;
- Help in
formulating short and long-term research plans to be submitted to the Dean of Graduate
Division and College president;
- Suggest
institutional problems/topics to be researched on;
- Meet
every end of the semester to assess improvements made and problems
encountered;
- Perform
other related duties.
NTC-REC
Research Program
This program provides
members of the academic and non-academic community of the National Teachers
College with research opportunities for personal and intellectual growths, as
well as improves the quality of instruction and services in the College. It
enables the research proponents to obtain funds for their research project and
or materials development project and at the same time be compensated for the
efforts exerted on the said project. In addition, this program also encourages
the different departments/offices to identify their own research thrusts.

development project that is developing or evaluating a textbook and/or
instructional material.
* Research project can be a
short-term research (covering one semester) or a long-term research (covering
one school year or more).
Qualifications for Research
Application:
1. Student who has an interest in
research and can produce a research output for a period of one semester only.
2. Faculty/Administrative Staff
member who is on probationary status who can produce short-term research within
his/her probationary period.
3. Faculty/Administrative Staff
member who is regular in status who can produce either a short-term or a
long-term research project.
4. Department/offices through the
head. (Group research undertaking)
How to Apply:
1. Obtain a proposal form from
the NTC-REC and fill it out completely considering the accompanying guides for
project proposal and for budget preparation.
2. Have the accomplished proposal
signed by the department/office head.
3. Submit the duly accomplished
proposal form to the NTC-REC. It will be subjected to thorough screening to make
sure that researches can contribute to knowledge development. Research mechanics
will be discussed to the applicant/s.
Policies for Incentives for the
Research Program Takers
Aside from the budget for
the expenses which shall be indicated in the research proposal,
a. the department/office
or group researchers shall receive P1,000 for a short term research and
P2,000-P4,000 to long-term researches.
b. a faculty/staff
shall receive:
1. merit points in
the faculty/staff evaluation;
2. certificate of
appreciation; and
3. compensation
equivalent to: a 3-unit subject load for short-term researches and a 6-unit
subject load for long-term researches.
*The research projects should
strictly follow the proposed work plan(time duration); or else, the aforecited
incentives shall be forfeited.
